Deloitte Football Money League 2019 24 January 2019

Today, the Sports Business Group at Deloitte has released the 22nd edition of the Deloitte Football Money League (‘DFML’), which analyses the highest earning clubs by revenue in the world’s most popular sport.It is a Spanish one-two at the top, with Real Madrid taking first place after a third consecutive UEFA Champions League title helped the club secure record revenue of more than €750m. FC Barcelona are in second whilst Manchester United, top in the two previous editions, have slipped to third. Bayern Munich and Manchester City make up the rest of the top five. A record six English clubs feature in the top ten, with the top 20 clubs generating revenue of more than €8bn for the first time.   • 6 – the record number of English clubs in the top ten of the Money League, the first time any country has occupied more than five of those positions
  • First – time that Tottenham Hotspur have been in the top ten of the Money League since 2006/07
  • 8:1 – the ratio of Real Madrid’s revenue in 1st to West Ham United in 20th, compared with a ratio of 3.4 in 2016/17
  • 8 - the number of countries represented in the top 30
  • 3 – the difference in £m between Brighton & Hove Albion’s revenue in 1996/97 (£1.1m) and 2017/18 (£139.4m), where they are in 29th place
