Football: Paul Pogba Rejoins Juventus

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw

Manchester United midfielder, Paul Pogba, has rejoined Juventus on a free transfer in a four-year deal.

Pogba, who is 29 years old, rejoined Manchester United from Juventus in 2016, for a world-record fee of £89 million, having been transferred from Manchester United to Juventus for £1.5 million in 2012.

Pogba stated that:

I’m back and I’m very happy – I can’t wait to start with you and win trophies with you.”

Juventus remarked that:

When we say goodbye after an intense adventure shared together, there is always a glimmer of hope that we will see each other again, sooner or later.”

And added:

Pogba is back and we couldn’t be happier.”

With 91 international caps, Pogba, who is a France national player, helped France win the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia.

Juventus finished fourth in Serie A for the second season running and it will be interesting, therefore, to see if he lives up to his stated aim of winning trophies for Juventus in the coming seasons!
