ADIDAS and Kanye West

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw

The leading German sportswear company, ADIDAS, has parted company with the rapper and designer, Kanye West, known as Ye, due to his antisemitic remarks on his Twitter account.

As a result, his products have been withdrawn from sale with immediate effect and ADIDAS is set to lose this year £217 million.

ADIDAS stated that

it does not tolerate antisemitism and any other form of hate speech.”

In a further development, the well-known shoe brand SKECHERS has stated that it had to escort Ye from its corporate offices in Los Angeles after he arrived unannounced and uninvited and was engaged in unauthorised filming.

SKETCHERS stated that

we condemn his recent divisive remarks and do not tolerate antisemitism and any other form of hate speech.”

Ye is reported to be suffering from bipolar disorder.
