Football: Nottingham Forest Lose PSR Appeal!

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw

Nottingham Forest have lost their appeal against their four points’ deduction for breaching the Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR) of the English Premier League.

The Club’s losses to 2022-2023 exceeded the threshold of £61 million by £34.5 million.

Under the PSR, Clubs are allowed to lose £105 million over three seasons, but the Club’s maximum loss was limited to £61 million, as they had spent two years of the assessment period in the Championship League.

The three-person Appeal Board unanimously held that the original decision was “commendably clear and comprehensive.”

This means that the Club currently remains in 17th position in the League and three points clear of the relegation zone with two games in hand.
