Football: Everton Points Deduction Appeal Withdrawn!

It has been announced on 10 May 2024 that Everton have withdrawn their appeal against a two points deduction for breaching the English Premier League Profit and Sustainability Rules (PSR).
The Club received this sanction for breaching the PSR by a sum of £16.6 million for the three-year period to 2022-2023.
The appeal was due to be heard next week and a decision issued before the final game of the season on 19 May 2024.
No reason has been given for this change of heart, but, perhaps, after further consideration of their case, the Club has come to the conclusion that that there was no merit in their appeal.
Everton received a ten-point deduction, which was reduced to six points in February 2024, for PSR breaches by the Club for the three-year period to 2021-2022.
So, the Club has had eight points deducted this season for PSR breaches.
However, the Club is not yet out of the woods, as they could face a further points deduction in respect of interest costs associated with the building of their new stadium at Bramley-Moor Dock. No date has been set for this matter.
