It is reported that former England association football captain, David Beckham, has signed a deal with AliExpress, an online platform for the Chinese technology company, Alibaba, to be a global ambassador during the Euros competition, which kicks off in Germany in June 2024.
Under this deal, Beckham will be the face of the AliExpress ‘Score More’ promotion, which will run during the competition.
His fee for this role has not been disclosed!
In March this year, AliExpress signed an exclusive e-commerce platform partnership with UEFA, the governing body of European football and the organiser of the competition.
Beckham has commented that:
“AliExpress is helping fans get even closer to UEFA EURO 2024 this summer, by offering them great prizes as the action takes place on the pitch.”
In some quarters, this deal is seen, politically, as a controversial one.
According to The Sunday Times Rich List, Beckham and his fashion designer wife, Victoria, a former ‘Spice Girl’, have a combined wealth of £455 million!
