New Book: ‘Fast Tracks and Dark Deals’ by Michael R. Payne

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw

According to the Publishers, Chiselbury, this Book, just published, is a surgical dissection of the business of sport and its evolution over the past fifty years from a cottage industry to a trillion-dollar global business.

With its intriguing sub-title, ‘How Sport Became Business and Business Became Sport’, the Book profiles the characters and events that gave birth to the business of sport.

The author is well-qualified to write this Book, having been the Head of the Marketing Division of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) for many years.

The Book offers its readers the dazzling highs and sobering lows, as wars, scandals, and economic crises threaten to pull the whole spectacle of sport apart.

The Book also offers some unique business insights from a major player in many of them, who knew everyone and has been everywhere in the labyrinth of world sport, even in its dark corners.

The final part of the Book provides a telling and perhaps unsettling prediction of sport during the next fifty years.

There are Forewords from the former IOC President, Dr Thomas Bach, and the Former F1 Supremo, Bernie Ecclestone.

The Book costs £25.00 and more information is available from the Publishers by e-mail atThis email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..
