In this year’s London Marathon, which took place on 26 April 2026, Sebastian Sawe set a world record in the men’s race of under 2 hours.
Sawe, who is 31 years old from Kenya, completed the course in 1hour 59 minutes and 30 seconds.
That is a staggering equivalent of running 100 metres in under 17 seconds and keeping up that pace for another 42 kilometres.
Sawe remarked:
“I am feeling good, I am so happy.”
And added:
“It is a day to remember. I have shown that nothing is not possible.”
It is reported that Sawe made more than US$1m (around €851,500) in prize money, appearance fee and bonuses from his win and world record.
