Sidley Named an Official Legal Services Provider of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA

Partnership marks a new chapter in Sidley’s longstanding work across the sports and entertainment industries

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. – Sidley today announced it has been named an Official Legal Services Provider of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA. As part of the partnership, Sidley will be a legal services provider helping navigate the commercial, operational, and regulatory complexities necessary to support LA28 as Los Angeles prepares to host the Olympic Games for the third time and the Paralympic Games for the first time.

The partnership marks a new chapter in Sidley’s longstanding work across the sports and entertainment industry. Drawing on its deep roots in Los Angeles and offices across the U.S., Sidley will bring people, perspective, and experience at scale through interdisciplinary teams supporting LA28 as it navigates the legal and operational complexities of delivering the Games.

“As one of the elite firms with a premier sports and entertainment practice, we are committed to supporting LA28 as it prepares to welcome athletes from around the world to Los Angeles,” said Yvette Ostolaza, Chair of Sidley’s Management Committee. “Our lawyers are excited about expanding our relationship with the Los Angeles Organizing Committee for the Olympic and Paralympic Games 2028, as an official legal services provider of the LA28 Olympic and Paralympic Games and Team USA.”

Sidley's longstanding legacy of excellence and public service aligns naturally with the Olympic and Paralympic ideals of unity, opportunity, and lasting community impact, reflected in the firm's commitment to pro bono and community service — a fitting connection as Sidley marks its 160th year.

"We are honored to partner with LA28 as Los Angeles prepares to welcome the world in summer 2028," said Brian Fahrney, Chair of Sidley's Executive Committee. "Delivering the Olympic and Paralympic Games is a complex and multifaceted undertaking requiring legal counsel across a range of disciplines. Sidley leads in bringing to bear talented interdisciplinary teams to help clients navigate such complexity. This approach positions us well to support LA28 as it prepares to deliver the Games."

“Delivering an event of this scale requires a trusted group of legal partners who share our dedication,” said Elisabeth Freinberg, LA28 Chief Legal Officer. “This partnership marks an exciting new chapter with a standard-setting firm that has been advising LA28 since the beginning of our journey. Sidley’s sophisticated practice spans key areas relevant to our business, including commercial contracting, venue construction and leasing, litigation and arbitration, and cybersecurity, to name a few. The firm’s deep experience navigating complex business, operational, and regulatory challenges will be instrumental as we work hand-in-hand to prepare Los Angeles for its third Olympic Games and historic first Paralympic Games.”

“As an Angeleno, there’s nothing more exciting than seeing the world turn its eyes to our city, and I’ve been fortunate to support LA28 for more than a decade,” said Dan Clivner, a member of Sidley’s Executive Committee and Managing Partner of the Los Angeles Office. “We’re proud of the foundation we’ve helped lay in bringing the Games home, and we’re eager to build on that work as an Official Legal Services Provider, with a focus on what these Games will leave behind for our city, our communities, and the firm that has called LA home since 1980.”
