E-Sports: Alonso Launches an E-Sports Team

Formula One Double World Champion (2005, 2006), Fernando Alonso, has launched an E-Sports team in partnership with Logitech, a giant in computer and mobile accessories.
Alonso stated that virutal racing opens doors for a younger audience. This goes for all sports, as we recently mentioned in our previous post regarding world sailing and E-Sports (see GSLTR website post of 19 November 2017) .
Now we can perhaps expect other Formula One drivers to join the exciting competition.
Alonso’s move proves once again that connecting with potential gamers has become an important way of marketing.
Besides marketing, E-Sports has become an important means of financial investment.
KSV eSports International has acquired Samsung Galaxy’s 2017 LoL Champion team. KSV CEO, Kevin Chou, indicated that they plan to invest in marketing and media production. They have also opened a Shanghai office, signaling a marketing move towards the evolving and lucrative Chinese consumer market.
The acquisition of the current world champion team is big news and it also shows how active and investor-friendly the E-Sports industry has become and which continues its meteoric rise.
So, it is onwards and upwards!
