Olympics & Paralympics: IOC and IPC sign new Collaboration Agreement

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw The IOC and the IPC have signed a new long-term partnership that will run until 2032. The new collaboration agreement is based on a number of existing agreements that were signed before the 2012 London Olympic and Paralympic Games, which ensure that the Olympic Host Cities must also stage the Paralympics. Under the new arrangements, the two Governing Bodies will work towards increasing the visibility of the Paralympics and also on implementing the IOC Agenda 2020 initiatives. The IOC will also continue to support the IPC financially. The President of the IPC, Andrew Parsons, remarked: “Strengthening the relationship with the IOC and securing the future of the IPC and the Paralympic Movement was my number one priority when I was elected as IPC President last September.” Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw may be contacted by e-mail at ‘This email address is being protected from spambots.
