Football: English Premier League January Transfer Window Spending Down!

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw Spending on new players by English Premier League Clubs in the January Transfer Window, which expired on 31 January 2019, was significantly down on previous years. Shock figures from Deloitte’s Sports Business Group reveal that the spending this time round of £180 million was down by 42% compared with the January Transfer Window of 2018. The biggest transfer window deadline deals involved Miguel Almiron to Newcastle for £21 million and Jonny Otto to Wolves for £15 million.
