By Emre Bilginoglu, Attorney-at-Law, Istanbul, Turkey Google has announced a new platform plan, named ‘Stadia’, which is said to be a ‘game changer’ for E-Sports. This new video gaming streaming platform, when introduced later in the year, will allow gamers to stream games on cloud and is not solely a streaming platform. Gamers will be able to play, watch others play and even develop the content. Games will be running on mighty Google servers rather than gamers’ own devices. Google will also have its own controller, similar to the ones of X-Box and PlayStation. Google also announced that a former executive of gaming giants Ubisoft and EA studios will lead its gaming studio. This is another exciting development for the future of E-Sports. It was about time that the technology giant, which evidently knows how bright the future of gaming is, to react with such an investment. The advanced cloud technology will allow gamers to merge spectating with playing, which is a dream-like opportunity. Apart from this being an exciting development for E-Sports, the competition between Google and Amazon, which owns the streaming platform Twitch, may start a new rivalry between them.
