IBSF Discrimination Task Force Set Up

IBSF Discrimination Task Force Set Up

The Executive Committee of the International Bobsleigh and Skeleton Federation (IBSF) has set up an independent Task Force to deal with cases of discrimination reported to it.

The Task Force will have a wide range of discrimination cases, including race, colour, sex, sexual orientation, religion and otherwise, referred to it, and will be required to investigate such cases and make recommendations on the action to be taken by the IBSF, under its Disciplinary Rules, including the imposition on offenders of a wide range of sporting sanctions.

The members of the Task Force are as follows:

  • Dolf Segaar, a sports lawyer and partner in the Amsterdam Law Firm of CMS Derks Star Busmann;
  • Paola Turconi, in-house legal counsel of World Triathlon, which is based in Lausanne, Switzerland; and
  • Professor Dr Ian Blackshaw, International Sports Lawyer, Academic, Author and Member of the Court of Arbitration for Sport, Lausanne, Switzerland.

Heike Groesswang, the IBSF General Secretary, remarked on the setting up of the Task Force as follows:

We will not tolerate any form of discrimination in our sport which is against its ethos and undermines its integrity!
