Women’s football is, once again, grabbing the headlines during the current transfer window, which began on 2 January 2021 and ends on 1 February 2021, with the signing by the Manchester United Women’s Team of the twenty-seven-year-old defender, Maria Thorisdottir, for an undisclosed sum.
She joins United from fellow Women’s Super League (WSL) Club, Chelsea, where she has been playing for the last three and a half years.
Under the transfer deal, she will play with United until the end of the 2022-2023 season, with an option for a further year.
She previously played for the Norwegian Club, Klepp, and earned 46 caps playing for the Norwegian National Team.
She remarked:
“United was always big in Norway, so for me to be part of the women’s side is really exciting.”
Chelsea currently lead the WSL on goal difference from United with a game in hand.
