Hungary: Sports subsidies treated as tax deductible expenses

It has been reported that the Hungarian parliament has approved an incentive for socalled ?spectator team sports?. These sports include soccer, handball, basketball, waterpolo and ice hockey. Subsidies paid by unrelated taxpayers to sports organizations will become tax deductible. An additional tax allowance from the amount of tax due can be obtained in the tax year when the subsidy is granted and in the subsequent three tax years. The tax allowance is granted up to the amount indicated in the certificate issued by the subsidized organization. The new rules will apply 15 days after the clearance of the European Commission.
