OLYMPIC GAMES PARIS 2024 CANOE MEN’S SLALOM C-1

THE CAS AD HOC DIVISION DISMISSES THE APPLICATION FILED BY BENJAMIN SAVŠEK (SLO)

Lausanne, 14 August 2024 - The Ad hoc Division of the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS) issued its decision in the following procedure in the evening of 11 August 2024:

CAS OG 24/19 Benjamin Savšek & Olympic Committee of Slovenia Association of Sports Federations (OCSASF) v. International Canoe Federation (ICF)

The application filed at the CAS Ad hoc Division by the Slovenian athlete Benjamin Savšek (the Applicant) in relation to the decision taken by the Chief Judge at the Canoe Slalom Competition on 29 July 2024 (the Challenged Decision) in which a 2-second penalty imposed on the Applicant was increased to a 50-second penalty, has been dismissed.

The Applicant sought a ruling from the CAS setting aside the Challenged Decision and reinstating the initial 2-second penalty imposed against him, as well as the correction of his final timing to 96.93 seconds and the correction of the final standings at the finals of the Men’s Canoe Slalom Competition at the 2024 Paris Olympic Games.

The matter was referred to Mr Lars Hilliger (DEN), sitting as a Sole Arbitrator. The Sole Arbitrator issued his decision on the basis of the parties’ written submissions.

The reasoned award, with the grounds for the Sole Arbitrator’s decision, will be issued to the parties as
soon as possible.
