The WSL has signed a new broadcast deal with the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation), to continue broadcasting the League for the next five years from the 2025-2026 season.
Under the deal, BBC Sport will show 21 top-flight matches each season, 14 of them will be exclusive to BBC Television, and 7 will be shared on BBC iPlayer and BBC digital platforms.
Selected matches will also be available on BBC Radio 5 Live and BBC Sounds and Local Radio.
Goals and clips of every fixture will also be available on the BBC Sport Website, App, and Social Channels.
Matches will continue to be broadcast on Sky Sports.
The Chief Executive of WSL, Nickki Doucet, commented as follows:
“Agreeing the next cycle of broadcast rights was a priority for us and we are very fortunate to have two premium broadcast partners in Sky Sports and the BBC who believe in the future and value of women’s football as much as we do.”
And added:
“The growth of the game is undeniable, and this deal is another step in the right direction and positive news for the fans, the players and the clubs.”
It is indeed onwards and upwards for women’s football and long may that continue to be so!
