European-wide Dog Fighting Network Revealed!

By Prof Dr Ian Blackshaw

An undercover BBC investigation has revealed what has been characterised as "one of Europe's largest dog fighting networks".

It appears that a simple online blunder by one dog fighter has brought to light a European-wide dog fighting network, including graphic match reports, which document fight after fight and injured animal after injured animal.

Dogs are forced to fight in specially made pits.

This blood sport is illegal in the twenty member States of the European Union and also in the United Kingdom (UK), where owning fighting dogs, training them to fight, trading animals, and even filming fights without good reason, are also illegal.

In the UK, the BBC investigation has discovered fighting kennels in a variety of places, including a busy housing estate and in the grounds of a stately home.
