Football: January Transfer Window - Coutinho transfer to Barcelona confirmed

The transfer of Philippe Coutinho from Liverpool FC to FC Barcelona for a fee of £142 million has been confirmed on 8 January 2018.
He has signed a five-and-a half year contract with Barcelona, who described Coutinho as “one of the world’s stars”. It is reported that Coutinho contributed £11.5 million of his own money to facilitate the deal.
The sale was agreed on 6 January and Coutinho has passed his medical test, although he will be out of action for three weeks due to a right thigh injury.
Coutinho said that “I am very happy, it’s a dream come true and I hope to be up to the job on the field.”
The 25-year old Brazilian midfielder has scored 54 goals in over 200 appearances for Liverpool since arriving at Anfield in 2013. Apart from his goals, Coutinho has also created many chances for his team-mates.
Liverpool’s loss, therefore, is Barcelona’s gain.
