Deloitte Football Money League 2018 rising stars

Today, Deloitte launch the 21st edition of the annual Deloitte Football Money League (DFML) and this year sees Manchester United remain at the top, by the narrowest ever margin from Real Madrid. United’s revenue of €676m was boosted by their success in the UEFA Europa League and their victory in Stockholm helped them hold off Real Madrid, who despite winning the Champions League and their domestic title, fell just short of regaining the Money League top spot.  FC Barcelona, Bayern Munich and Manchester City make up the rest of the top five. A record ten English clubs feature in the top 20, generating revenue of €3.8bn, helped by the fact that the 2016/17 season was the first of the record Premier League broadcast deals. • 10 – the record number of English clubs in the Money League top 20, the first time any country has occupied half of those positions, with 3 from Italy, 3 from Spain, 3 from Germany, 1 from France.
• 3.4 – the ratio of Manchester United’s revenue in 1st to Everton in 20th, compared with a ratio of 4 in 2015/16.
• First time that Southampton have been in the Money League top 20.
• 7 – the number of countries represented in the top 30.
• 135.7 – the difference in £m between AFC Bournemouth’s revenue in 1996/97 (£1.1m) and 2016/17 (£136.8m), where they are in 28th place.
